BROWARD LOTUS SANGHA 
ANNUAL ENLIGHTENMENT FLOWER CEREMONY
AND VEGETARIAN POTLUCK DINNER

The Broward Lotus Sangha invites you to celebrate with us the anniversary of Buddha Shakyamuni's Enlightenment with our Annual Enlightenment Flower Ceremony, Friday, June 13th, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. During this special ceremony, all Sangha members in attendance will receive a commemorative yellow rose in a water vase, with the words of Thây Thich Nhẫt Hanh accompanying the giving and receiving. Each of these flowers is intended to represent the beauty and purity of our own Buddha Nature and symbolizes our innate capacity to wake up or become enlightened.
 
Afterwards, we will continue the festivity by sharing a vegetarian potluck dinner. Feel free to bring your favorite healthy vegetarian dish, dessert, treat, tea or other non-alcoholic drink to share with the Sangha on this very special evening. Please remember to bring all the necessary utensils to serve and consume your dish as well.
 
We look forward to an evening filled with joy and hope to see you there for this auspicious celebration!

The Broward Lotus Sangha (BLS) is a meditation group in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhẫt Hanh, who was nominated by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for the Nobel Peace Price back in the 60s when they were working together to end the war in Vietnam and promote peace on Earth. We meet the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The door will be open around 6:30 PM to set up and practitioners should be arriving by 6:45 PM so they can say 'hello', find a comfortable place to sit and relax while listening to the music. Silent meditation starts at 7:00PM. If you arrive after that, please come in quietly. (We will be talking again by about 7:30). Feel free to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and bring your favorite seating arrangement (some are provided). At the end of the meditation gathering we usually share some tea and treats and, whenever possible, go out to dinner nearby afterwards.  In order to be kind to the Earth Mother, please bring your own non-disposable teacup (disposable ones are usually provided by the Sangha).
