[BLS-News] REMINDER: Full Moon Bike Ride Through Shark Valley in Everglades National Park this Friday

COME CELEBRATE EARTH DAY WITH THE BROWARD LOTUS SANGHA!


When: April 10, 2009 7:00 PM

Where: Shark Valley in Everglades National Park
S.R. 41 West of Krome Ave. 
Homestead, FL 33030

This event is open to all Sangha members and Nature lovers, so bring your friends!

We are planning an outing to ride our bikes on Full Moon Night through beautiful Shark Valley (Everglades National Park). The bike ride is 15 miles roundtrip on a paved one-lane trail. 

Along the edges of the trail is the swamp where we may have the chance to see alligators, large birds, possibly deer and various other inhabitants. (During the day, the alligators sun themselves on the trail itself and cyclists have to gently bike their way around them. At night, however they stay on the edges and we will see them by the glint of their eyes in our lights). There is an observation tower at midpoint (about 7 miles out) with a ramp that will take us to the top where we will take a break. The top of the tower affords beautiful views of the night sky and the alligators in the stream below.

What to bring: 
For the ride you will need 
· A good bike, 
· A helmet, and 
· A light to put on the handlebars of your bike (The trail is DARK and quite far from any artificial light). 
· Warm clothing (it tends to get chilly out there sometimes). 
· Any snacks and water or other non-alcoholic drinks that you would like to bring with you.
· Remember to dress appropriately for the wheather
