MINDFUL HIKE AT FAIRCHILD TROPICAL GARDENS
Saturday, January 15, 2011
At 10:30 A.M.*


This event is open to all age groups so bring your friends and family!

We will be walking slowly and mindfully while enjoying nature and learning
about native flora and fauna at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens. This
83-acre garden has been delighting visitors since 1938 with its beautiful
paths, vistas and exhibits. Fairchild Tropical Gardens is one of the world's
preeminent botanic gardens, with extensive collections of native as well as
rare tropical plants including palms, cycads, flowering trees, tropical
fruit trees, vines, and succulents. Come enjoy them with us!

*Difficulty Level:* Easy--All Ages and fitness levels welcome.

*Hike leader:* Stuart Krantz

*What To Bring/Wear:* comfortable clothes, hat, sunblock, and closed shoes.
*There is a nice café and indoor/outdoor eating area at the gardens where we
can lunch, either before or after our tram tours, as the group
prefers.*Healthy vegetarian fare available.

   - *If Carpooling with us at 8:45 A.M.:
   *Meet at Agricultural Extension Service Building in Davie at 8:45A.M. For

   *Meet at the Fairchild Tropical Garden's Parking lot at 10:30 A.M. Garden
   hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

   - *We will receive our group admission tickets at the front gate:* There
   is no charge for the guided hike, but the Group Admission Fee is $18.00
   (regularly $25). Free for Children 5 and under.
   The trams are free and depart on the hour. Get in line 15 minutes before
   the hour and they can probably take the entire group as they load 70 people
   for each trip. The tram tours are 10 to 4.

*Directions From the North:*
Take I-95 south to US 1 (S. Dixie Hwy.) Go south on US 1 to SW 42nd Ave.
(LeJeune Rd.). Turn left on SW 42nd Ave., and drive south to roundabout.
Enter roundabout and take 2nd right onto Old Cutler Rd. Drive 2 miles on Old
Cutler Road. Fairchild entrance will be on your left.
