According to <B>Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh</B>, this Plum Village-Style <B>Rose Ceremony</B> is as important as the Ceremony for the Birth of the Buddha, for it nourishes our understanding, love, and gratitude for our parents and all beings. Our list of distinguished guests will include a <B>delegation of</B> <B>Tibetan monks from Gaden Ngari Monastery in India</B>, who are creating a special sand mandala in honor of all mothers at the Vietnamese Buddhist Monastery.</FONT></SPAN><BR><SPAN style="COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana"><FONT size=3> </FONT></SPAN><BR><SPAN style="COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana"><FONT size=3>We will start the celebration with a traditional <B>Vietnamese Dragon Dance</B> for the whole family to enjoy. A Dharma Talk by <B>Venerable Tỷ Kheo Thích Hương Huệ’</B> and a reading of <B>Sư Ông</B> <B>Thích Nhất Hanh</B>’s <B><I><U>A Rose for Your Pocket</U></I></B> will follow. During this Plum Village-style Rose Ceremony, all participants will be invited pin to their lapels two flowers in representation of each of their parents: a <B>red rose</B> if parent is still alive or a <B>white rose</B> if he or she is no longer alive.<SPAN> </SPAN>We will then enjoy chanting in Vietnamese and Tibetan during the <B>Mother’s Day Mandala closing ceremony</B>.<SPAN> </SPAN>At about 7:00 P.M., our <B>Rose Ceremony</B> will be followed by joyful singing and a delicious Vietnamese vegetarian dinner. <B>The Celebration will be conducted in English and Vietnamese</B>.<SPAN> </SPAN></FONT></SPAN><BR><SPAN style="COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana"><FONT size=3> </FONT></SPAN><BR><FONT size=3><B><U><SPAN style="COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana">This event is free and open to the public</SPAN></U></B><SPAN style="COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana">.
