<div><br><br>This family-friendly event is open to the public, so bring your neighbors and friends! <br><br>AZUR AND ASMAR is a Multicultural Award-Winning Family Film in the English Language made in France by people from Argentina, Algeria, Armenia, Belgium, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Iraq, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal, Spain, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia, the U.S.A., Vietnam, and Yemen. This film, which addresses themes of racism, idealism, the state of the planet, and relations between east and west, has received standing ovations at several international film festivals, including the Cannes and Annecy film festivals. <br>
<br>Azur and Asmar is the story of two boys nursed by same woman and raised as brothers. Azur, the blond, blue-eyed, white-skinned son of a noblewoman and Asmar, the black-haired, brown-eyed, dark-skinned <br>son of the nurse who lovingly cares for them. She tells them magical stories about her faraway homeland and of the beautiful Fairy of the Djinns who is imprisoned, waiting to be set free. Time passes, and Azur is sent away to study, while Asmar and his mother are driven out, homeless and penniless by Azur's">Azur's father, the master of the house. Azur remains haunted by memories of the sunny land of his nanny's tales and, as a young adult, sets sail south across the high seas to find the country of his dreams. Meanwhile, back in her homeland, Azur's">Azur's nanny has become a wealthy merchant and Asmar has grown into a dashing horseman. Reunited, the two brothers set off on a dangerous quest to find and free the Fairy of the Djinns. <br>

<br>From I-95 south <br>Exit Davie Boulevard, go east to SE 3rd Avenue, turn left, go two traffic lights to SE 6 Street, turn right, Cinema is one block ahead on the left. <br><br><b>Parking</b> is available at street meters, or free at the County School District Building located on SE 3rd Avenue just South of the Kathleen Wright Building. Discounted parking is offered at the Courthouse Parking Garage Monday - Friday from 5 pm and all day and night on Weekends. To access the garage, enter the Employee Parking Entrance on the East side of the Courthouse Parking garage via S.E. 5th Avenue; just follow the Cinema Paradiso / Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival parking signs! <br>
